Seoul: South Korean food company CJ CheilJedang Corp. announced on Monday that it has launched its "shelf-stable" noodle products in the European market for the first time this month. The introduction of these products marks a significant step in the company's global expansion strategy. According to Yonhap News Agency, the company has debuted its bibigo Korean Style Udon Noodles in Britain, Sweden, and Spain. This move is part of CJ CheilJedang's efforts to capture a larger share of the room-temperature noodle market, which is estimated to be worth 126 trillion won (approximately US$89.9 billion). With the inclusion of these three European countries, CJ CheilJedang has now introduced its shelf-stable noodle products in a total of 10 countries outside of South Korea since 2005. The company revealed plans to gradually expand its presence further into other European markets, including France, Germany, and the Netherlands. In line with its broader expansion strategy, CJ CheilJedang previously launched its shelf -stable pasta products under the Le Cook brand in China in December 2023. CJ CheilJedang's frozen and refrigerated noodle products are already available in global markets, and this new venture aims to strengthen its position in the international food sector. The company reported a 26 percent increase in net profit for the January-September period, reaching 514.7 billion won, compared to 407.5 billion won a year earlier.
