Stockholm: FuriosaAI Inc. will take part in a massive artificial intelligence (AI) data center construction project in Sweden, the company said Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean advanced chip startup will supply its second-generation neural processing unit (NPU) called RNGD, in phases, to the data center project of 15-megawatt capacity, set to be built in Stockholm. FuriosaAI plans to provide the initial batch of 1,800 units in the first phase and gradually expand to a total of 8,800 units, the company said.
Sweden is widely considered an AI infrastructure hub of Europe, due to its secure energy infrastructure and mature data center ecosystem. The upcoming facility is expected to support AI inference for companies and cloud operators in the European Union. "We plan to accelerate next-generation AI inference infrastructure with our global partners," FuriosaAI said.
