Seoul: No details have been finalized on any new U.S. tariffs on semiconductors, the presidential office here said Thursday, after the U.S. commerce secretary said a "targeted" chip tariff policy is under consideration.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, during a CNBC interview on Wednesday (U.S. time), stated that the U.S. administration is contemplating a "targeted" and "thoughtful" tariff policy for semiconductors. This announcement has caused ripples in the semiconductor industry, with stakeholders keenly observing the developments.

An official at Cheong Wa Dae mentioned, "As far as we know, details related to U.S. semiconductor tariffs have not been finalized." The official emphasized the government's commitment to closely monitoring the situation.
