Seoul: The romantic comedy "Can This Love Be Translated?" has climbed to the top of Netflix's weekly non-English series chart, as announced by the streaming platform on Wednesday. The 12-part series achieved 9 million views for the week ending January 25, surpassing its previous position from last week's No. 2 spot.
According to Yonhap News Agency, "Can This Love Be Translated?" outperformed its closest competitor, the Korean dating reality show "Single's Inferno: Season 5," which garnered 4.5 million views. The series features a storyline centered on the romantic development between Cha Mu-hee, played by Go Youn-jung, an actress who suddenly rises to international fame, and Ju Ho-jin, portrayed by Kim Seon-ho, a multilingual translator fluent in six languages but struggling with emotional expression.
The series is penned by Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, known collectively as the Hong Sisters. They are well-known for creating several successful series, such as "Master's Sun" (2013), "Hotel del Luna" (2019), and "Alchemy of Souls" (2022-23).
Additionally, other Korean series have made notable appearances on the top 10 list. SBS TV's romantic drama "No Tail to Tell" secured the No. 5 spot with 2 million views, while tvN's office drama "Undercover Miss Hong" ranked No. 6 with 1.9 million views.
