BYD Korea Targets 10,000 Vehicle Sales in 2026 with Expanded Model Range

Seoul: BYD Korea Co., the South Korean branch of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD Co., has announced its ambitious goal to sell over 10,000 vehicles in the current year, a significant 64 percent increase from its 2025 sales figures. This planned growth is driven by an expanded lineup of products.

According to Yonhap News Agency, BYD Korea launched its operations in South Korea in 2025, marking its entry by selling a total of 6,107 passenger vehicles. The company views 2025 as a foundational period during which it collaborated closely with dealer partners to establish its market presence. Now, 2026 is set to be the year for BYD Korea's substantial advancement in the South Korean passenger car market.

Currently, BYD offers three models in the South Korean market: the Atto 3 compact SUV, the midsize Seal sedan, and the midsize Sealion 7 SUV. To further enhance its offerings, BYD plans to introduce three additional models this year. These include a rear-wheel-drive version of the Seal, the Dolphin compact hatchback, and a Dual Mode intelligent (DM-i) model featuring BYD's plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology.

In a bid to achieve its sales target, BYD intends to expand its retail and service network significantly. By the end of December, the company plans to increase its reach to 35 showrooms and 26 after-sales service centers across South Korea.

In a strategic move to strengthen its foothold in Asia's fourth-largest economy, BYD joined the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA) in March of the previous year. This membership is expected to bolster its market presence and facilitate its growth objectives in the South Korean automotive sector.
