Britain’s Princess Anne Visits Ulsan to Boost Maritime Ties

Seoul: Britain's Princess Anne, the younger sister of King Charles III, made a notable visit to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.'s shipyard in Ulsan. The visit, which took place on Tuesday, was aimed at reviewing South Korea's shipbuilding capabilities and fostering bilateral maritime cooperation, as confirmed by the company.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Princess Anne's visit was part of a broader three-day trip to South Korea, accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. During her time at the shipyard, she engaged in discussions with HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Ki-sun, who showcased the company's cutting-edge shipbuilding technologies and highlighted its collaborations with British firms.

Among the companies involved in these collaborations are Rolls-Royce, known for supplying the MT30 gas turbine for South Korea's next-generation frigates, and Beaufort, a provider of submarine crew survival equipment. Chung emphasized Britain's significant role as a "special partner" in the early development of the Korean shipbuilder and expressed a strong commitment to furthering cooperation with the British shipbuilding and maritime sectors.
