Seoul: Authorities on Tuesday discovered the body of a boy who had gone missing in a southeastern mountain park earlier this week. The 11-year-old was reported missing on Sunday after hiking alone at Juwangsan National Park, about 280 kilometers southeast of Seoul, following a visit to a Buddhist temple at the park with his family.
According to Yonhap News Agency, authorities had deployed 96 personnel and a helicopter to aid in the search operation. The extensive efforts were undertaken in an attempt to locate the young boy after he failed to return from his solo hike. The search team combed through the challenging terrain of the park, utilizing both manpower and aerial support to cover a wide area.
