Seoul: A Seoul court has granted an arrest warrant for a man charged with stabbing two men at an office in western Seoul earlier this week. The Seoul Southern District Court approved the warrant after an arrest warrant hearing, citing a risk of flight for the suspect, who is an employee of a partner company.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the suspect, in his 60s, allegedly stabbed two LG Electronics employees on the second floor of the company's business center in Gangseo Ward. The victims, one in his 50s and the other in his 40s, sustained injuries to their arms and ribs and were taken to hospitals. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening.
Upon arriving at the court for the hearing, the suspect expressed remorse, claiming that the attack resulted from sudden anger following his dismissal. He criticized the management system of the partner firm at LG Electronics as "problematic."
In response, LG Electronics issued a statement dismissing the suspect's claim. The company clarified that they had only requested the suspect's reassignment to a different duty, which would not have affected his employment status. Furthermore, the company stated that no signs of workplace harassment involving the suspect had been found up to that point.
