Actor Kim Soo-hyun Makes 1st Public Appearance in 17 Months Amid Allegations

Jakarta: Kim Soo-hyun has made his first public appearance in 17 months after nearly suspending activities following allegations linked to late actress Kim Sae-ron. The actor appeared on a live broadcast marking the 37th anniversary of RCTI, a major Indonesian broadcasting station. During the program, Kim expressed gratitude to the channel for inviting him and performed "Dreaming," an original soundtrack from the Korean school drama "Dream High" (2011) in which he starred.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the TV appearance comes on the heels of the arrest of conservative YouTuber Kim Se-ui, who was accused of spreading false and fabricated information about Kim Soo-hyun's relationship with the late actress, particularly regarding their alleged involvement when she was a minor. Hover Lab, the YouTube channel operated by Kim Se-ui, had raised these allegations in March 2025 after the actress was found dead at her home the previous month, following an apparent suicide at the age of 24.

In response to the allegations, Kim Soo-hyun held a press conference later in March, where he acknowledged dating the actress but denied any claims that their relationship occurred while she was a minor. He also filed defamation complaints against the YouTuber and the family of the late actress. Recently, police dropped the underage dating charge against Kim, citing a lack of evidence, a decision that might contribute to Kim's gradual return to public life.

Looking ahead, Kim is scheduled to visit the Philippines in October to attend a fan event organized by a local fashion brand, indicating his intention to resume public engagements and reconnect with his fan base.
