Seoul: Acting President Han Duck-soo has extended his congratulations to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the success of his party in Canada's general election, as announced by Han's office on Wednesday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Han dispatched a telegram on Tuesday to express his "sincere" congratulations to Carney on the Liberals' electoral triumph earlier in the week, while also wishing for Canada's "eternal development." The message highlighted the longstanding partnership between South Korea and Canada, which has been built on shared values over the past 60 years. Han underscored the significance of this year, as it marks a decade since the two nations announced their bilateral free trade agreement and as they respectively chair the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum and the Group of Seven.
Han emphasized his anticipation for the continued close cooperation between South Korea and Canada as comprehensive strategic partners.
