Seoul: Acclaimed theater actor Yoon Seok-hwa has died at the age of 69 following her battle with a brain tumor. The veteran actress passed away at around 10 a.m. on Friday at a hospital, surrounded by her family and friends.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Yoon Seok-hwa had undergone surgery for a malignant brain tumor in October 2022. Despite her health challenges, she made her final stage appearance in August 2023, with a five-minute guest appearance in the play "Toccata."
Born in Seoul in 1956, Yoon made her debut in a 1975 play. She became popular in the theater world with performances in numerous productions and later expanded her career to include work as a producer and director. Over her long and varied career, Yoon became a respected figure in the arts community.
Yoon Seok-hwa is survived by her husband, daughter, and son, who were present during her final moments. Her contribution to the theater world is remembered fondly by colleagues and audiences alike.
