Yoon’s approval rating sinks to 27 pct: poll

President Yoon Suk Yeol's approval rating sank by 11 percentage points to 27 percent from two weeks ago, a poll showed Thursday. Negative assessment of Yoon's performance rose 9 percentage points to 64 percent, according to a survey by four pollsters conducted from Monday to Wednesday after last week's parliamentary elections in which Yoon's ruling People Power Party suffered a crushing defeat. In a survey of political parties, the approval ratings of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) and the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) were both 32 percent. Trailing behind was the Rebuilding Korea Party of former Justice Minister Cho Kuk, with 13 percent. In the elections, the opposition bloc clinched 192 seats while the ruling PPP picked up only 108 seats. Forty percent of respondents said the opposition bloc took more parliamentary seats than predicted in last week's elections, while 28 percent said the ruling bloc took a larger-than-expected number of seats. Meanwhile, 23 percent said the results were simi lar to what they had expected. The survey on 1,004 individuals aged 18 and older has a confidence level of 95 percent with a credibility rate of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Source: Yonhap News Agency
