Seoul: Arrested President Yoon Suk Yeol will not appear for further questioning over his failed martial law bid on Monday, his lawyers have announced. Yoon was summoned by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) to appear for questioning at 10 a.m., following his absence the previous day.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the CIO has indicated it may forcibly bring Yoon in or visit him at the Seoul Detention Center, where he has been detained since last Wednesday, should he continue to defy the orders. Yoon was formally arrested early Sunday after a court issued a warrant to extend his detention, citing concerns that he might destroy evidence.

The impeached president is facing charges of leading an insurrection and abusing his power during his brief imposition of martial law on December 3.
