Woori Financial Group Sees 7.4 Percent Boost in Q2 Net Profit

Seoul: Woori Financial Group announced a 7.4 percent increase in its net profit for the second quarter, driven by growth in both interest and non-interest income. The company reported a net profit of 1 trillion won (US$682 million) for the April-June period, marking a 66 percent rise from the previous quarter.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Woori Financial's net profit for the first six months of the year totaled 1.61 trillion won, representing a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year. The group's interest income saw a 3.3 percent on-year rise, reaching 2.3 trillion won in the second quarter, while non-interest income surged 19.4 percent to 629 billion won during the same period.

In addition, the company noted a 2.3 percent on-year increase in interest income, maintaining the figure at 2.3 trillion won for the second quarter. Non-interest income also experienced significant growth, climbing 26.7 percent on-year to 455 billion won for the April-June period.

Woori Bank, the flagship of Woori Financial Group, reported a net profit of 842 billion won in the second quarter, contributing significantly to the group's overall financial performance.
