Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle Final Postponed Due to Heavy Snow

Milan: The women's snowboard slopestyle final at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, initially set for Tuesday, has been postponed because of heavy snowfall across northern Italy. The event was scheduled to commence at 1 p.m. at the Livigno Snow Park, located 140 kilometers north of Milan. Event organizers are expected to decide on a new schedule for the final after a meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, with South Korean athlete Yu Seung-eun among those vying for a medal.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Yu Seung-eun, who secured a bronze medal in the women's big air event last week, aims to become the first South Korean snowboarder to earn multiple medals in a single Winter Olympics. The qualification stage for the women's slopestyle was previously moved from Monday to Sunday due to forecasts of heavy snow. Yu finished in third place during the qualification round, advancing to the final with the top 12 competitors.

Notably, qualification scores will not be factored into the final. During the final, each competitor will perform three runs, with their best score from these runs determining their final standing. The slopestyle competition involves snowboarders executing a series of tricks down a course filled with obstacles like rails and jumps, with judges evaluating originality, amplitude, and quality of performance.

Judges provide "section" scores for technical maneuvers and "composition" scores for the overall flow and coherence of the performance.
