Woman booked over stolen diamond rings
A woman who allegedly stole diamond rings from a jewelry shop in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, was booked without detention, police said Wednesday.
The woman, 30, identified as Lee, said she went into the jewelry shop and wanted to see the most expensive ring. When the shop owner took his eyes off her, Lee allegedly ran away with two rings on her fingers, police said. The rings are valued at 48 million won ($42,000).
Police also alleged Lee stole diamond rings worth 51 million won from three other shops using similar methods.
They are still investigating whether she committed further crimes.
