Seoul: A young wolf named Neukgu, who escaped from a zoo in Daejeon, has been spotted for the first time since his escape five days ago, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the wolf was seen on a small mountain close to the Daejeon O-World theme park at 10:43 p.m. on Monday. The sighting was reported by local firefighting officials, who confirmed that the animal was indeed Neukgu.

Authorities are currently preparing to capture the wolf. Neukgu managed to escape by digging out of his enclosure at the zoo within the Daejeon O-World theme park last Wednesday morning, leading to an extensive search effort and significant media attention.
