Yeongdeok: A fire broke out at a wind turbine in the southeastern county of Yeongdeok on Monday, resulting in one fatality and leaving two individuals unaccounted for, authorities reported. The incident occurred at approximately 1:11 p.m. within a wind power complex located about 240 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, local fire authorities confirmed that an employee of a wind turbine company perished in the blaze, while two others are still unreachable. A police official mentioned that the missing individuals are believed to be inside the turbine, though their exact location remains uncertain.
Efforts to control the fire involved the deployment of 11 helicopters and 148 personnel. Emergency services continue to work diligently to extinguish the flames and locate the missing individuals, as investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.
