Vice FM Kim Jina Engages OECD Chief on Cooperation at APEC Forum

Seoul: Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jina met with Mathias Cormann, the chief of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum to discuss cooperative measures, the foreign ministry reported.

According to Yonhap News Agency, during the meeting, Kim expressed South Korea's commitment to actively participate in discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation with the global economic forum. The discussions focused on areas such as digital and artificial intelligence (AI) issues, demographic shifts, and energy transitions.

Kim emphasized the significance of strengthening engagement with the Indo-Pacific and Southeast Asian regions, urging the OECD to maintain its commitments in these areas. Furthermore, Kim highlighted the importance of increasing the representation of Korean nationals in the OECD and requested the secretary-general's attention to facilitate more opportunities for Koreans to assume senior positions within the organization.
