Seoul: The issuance of derivatives-linked securities (DLS) in South Korea rose some 30 percent on-year in the first half of 2026, data showed Monday. The country's DLS sales reached 15.8 trillion won (US$10.7 billion) in the January-June period, marking a 29.1 percent increase from the previous year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the amount was also up 18.7 percent compared with six months earlier, as highlighted in the latest report. DLS tracks the performance of interest rates, currency values, and other underlying assets, offering high returns for investors willing to take on the associated risks.
By the end of June, the value of outstanding DLS had amounted to 42.3 trillion won, reflecting an 11.1 percent increase from the end of the previous year, as indicated by the data.
