Seoul: The unification ministry announced its commitment to focus on the stable management of the situation with North Korea, adhering to a principle-based approach towards Pyongyang, following a short-lived declaration of martial law. According to Yonhap News Agency, the ministry's statement came after a meeting of senior officials led by Unification Minister Kim Yung-ho. This meeting was convened in response to President Yoon Suk Yeol's unexpected declaration of martial law, which was subsequently rescinded after the National Assembly rejected it. During the meeting, officials assessed the current situation with North Korea and deliberated on the future direction of policies concerning unification and Pyongyang. The ministry emphasized its dedication to maintaining stability on the Korean Peninsula while sticking to its established North Korea policy principles. In light of recent events, Minister Kim Yung-ho canceled his participation in a public event organized by the Peaceful Unification Advisory Cou ncil. Additionally, Vice Unification Minister Kim Soo-kyung withdrew from a scheduled luncheon with ambassadors from ASEAN member countries.
