U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to Visit South Korea En Route to China for Trump-Xi Summit

Seoul: U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to visit South Korea next week for talks with senior officials in Seoul. Bessent is likely to arrive on Wednesday for a single-day visit before proceeding to China to prepare for a summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the secretary is anticipated to meet with Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol and other senior South Korean officials. The discussions are expected to focus on the foreign exchange market and a range of economic and financial issues of mutual interest between the two nations.

Bessent's visit to South Korea is part of a larger international trip. He is scheduled to begin the trip with a three-day visit to Japan starting Monday, where he is expected to meet with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda.
