Miami: The United States will host a Group of 20 (G20) summit in Florida in December, the Treasury Department said Thursday. The department announced a schedule for G20 "Finance Track" meetings, stating that the U.S. G20 host year will culminate with President Donald Trump hosting the leaders' meeting on Dec. 14-15 at Trump National Doral in Miami. According to Yonhap News Agency, President Trump previously indicated in September that the U.S. would host the summit at the resort in December, marking the first such event in nearly 20 years. With South Korea being a member of the G20, President Lee Jae Myung might attend the summit. Ahead of the main summit, a meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors is scheduled in Washington on April 16. This will be followed by a meeting of finance and central bank deputies in Asheville, North Carolina, on Aug. 29-30. Another meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors is planned in Asheville on Aug. 31-Sept. 1, with a subsequent meeting of t he ministers and central bank governors in Bangkok on Oct. 15. In a press release, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent outlined several G20 topics, including modernizing financial regulation, understanding excessive global imbalances, enhancing debt transparency, facilitating debt restructuring processes, and supporting a digital assets ecosystem.
