Busan: A U.S. nuclear-powered submarine has made a significant stop at the naval base in Busan, South Korea, to replenish supplies and provide rest for its crew members. The South Korean Navy confirmed the arrival of the USS Greeneville, a Los Angeles-class attack submarine, at the strategic southeastern port city, which is located approximately 330 kilometers from Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the USS Greeneville's visit is part of a broader effort to enhance naval cooperation and strengthen the combined defense posture between the United States and South Korea. The visit is especially notable as it marks the first docking of a U.S. nuclear-powered submarine in the region since President Lee Jae Myung took office in June. This visit is the USS Greeneville's fourth to South Korea, with its last appearance being in 2016.

The submarine's arrival comes nearly a year after another Los Angeles-class submarine, the USS Alexandria, docked at the same base for similar reasons in February. North Korea has expressed its disapproval of these visits, accusing the United States of disregarding its security concerns. Pyongyang has also issued warnings, stating its readiness to employ any necessary measures to safeguard its national security.
