Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States has successfully conducted a large-scale operation against Venezuela, resulting in the capture of its leader, Nicolas Maduro. This operation marks the culmination of a prolonged campaign by the Trump administration to exert pressure on the Maduro regime.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump's announcement was made through a social media post, where he detailed the operation targeting Maduro, who has been accused by the administration of drug trafficking activities. Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously referred to the Maduro administration as a "narco-terrorist" regime.

In his statement on Truth Social, Trump declared that the United States, in collaboration with U.S. law enforcement, executed the operation, capturing Maduro and his wife, and subsequently transporting them out of the country. The President further stated that a news conference is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. (local time) to address the situation.
