Bucheon: Two additional victims have succumbed to their injuries following a devastating truck crash at Jeil Market in Bucheon, as confirmed by local police authorities. The fatalities, which occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, involved a man in his twenties and a woman in her eighties, raising the total number of deaths from the incident to four.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the tragic event unfolded last week when a 1-ton pickup truck careened through the tight confines of the market, which is located approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Seoul. The initial crash claimed the lives of two women in their sixties and seventies. In addition to the fatalities, 17 other individuals sustained injuries, though none are reported to be in life-threatening conditions.

Authorities are preparing to transfer the 67-year-old driver to the prosecution, charging him under the special law governing traffic accidents that result in death. Investigations revealed that the driver reversed the truck before accelerating 132 meters down the market passageway, colliding with both individuals and storefronts.

Dashcam footage from the vehicle captured the critical moment when the driver mistakenly pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake. The driver has Moyamoya disease, a rare condition affecting the brain's blood vessels. Initially, he claimed that his illness did not impact his driving capabilities, but he later amended his statement, suggesting that his condition might have played a role in the accident.
