Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned Iran to "get smart soon," as peace talks remained at an impasse amid growing concerns over the economic fallout of the U.S.-Israeli war against the Islamic Republic.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump made the remarks in a social media post, intensifying pressure on Tehran to reach an agreement with the United States to end ongoing hostilities. "Iran can't get their act together. They don't know how to sign a nonnuclear deal," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "They better get smart soon!" He paired the warning with an image of himself holding a rifle, captioned: "No more Mr. Nice Guy."
Negotiations between Washington and Tehran have been stalled primarily due to differences over the critical Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear ambitions. The two nations held their first and only round of direct negotiations in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, but failed to reach an agreement to cease the conflict.
