According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump's comments were made via a social media post, coinciding with reports of negotiations between Iran and Oman concerning the shipping lanes in the strait. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital corridor for the transportation of oil, natural gas, and other commodities. Its closure by Iran during the Middle East conflict has significantly impacted global trade. In his post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "The U.S.A. has total control over the Strait of Hormuz. I THINK WE WILL KEEP IT! Our Naval Blockade is being called, by everyone, 'A WALL OF STEEL,' and there is nothing Iran can do about it."
