Trump Asserts U.S. Capability to Control Strait of Hormuz Amid Tensions

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence on Friday in the United States' ability to gain control over the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting that with a little more time, the U.S. could open the crucial waterway, access oil supplies, and potentially profit significantly.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump's comments were made in a social media post against the backdrop of increasing concerns over the repercussions of the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran. The tensions have led to disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital channel for global energy supplies, which has subsequently contributed to rising oil prices. The strait is a critical passageway, facilitating about one-fifth of the world's oil transport.

In his post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "With a little more time, we can easily OPEN THE HORMUZ STRAIT, TAKE THE OIL, and MAKE A FORTUNE." He further described the potential control of the strait as a "GUSHER" for the world. This assertion follows his earlier warning that the U.S. military plans to conduct severe actions against Iran within the next two to three weeks, aiming to significantly degrade the Islamic Republic's capabilities.
