Florida: U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that "Cuba is next" as he highlighted the utilization of America's military forces in recent international conflicts, notably in Iran and Venezuela. His remarks were made during the Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump emphasized the deployment of military power, referencing the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro in January as part of his administration's approach of "peace through strength." Trump's mention of Cuba came amidst speculation about potential shifts in U.S. foreign policy focus following the conclusion of hostilities in Iran.
During his address, Trump called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, noting ongoing negotiations with Iran to end the war. He described Iranian negotiators as eager to reach an agreement and mentioned Iran's recent admission of ongoing talks, which was initially denied.
The Trump administration has been actively pursuing diplomatic measures to resolve the Middle East conflict, including a 15-point peace proposal extended to Iran through Pakistani intermediaries. Despite plans to deploy more troops to the region, a temporary halt on strikes against Iran's energy infrastructure has been extended to early April.
Addressing the leadership change in Iran, Trump mentioned Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, suggesting uncertainty about his condition following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the U.S. military operation "Operation Epic Fury."
Trump also expressed disappointment with NATO allies for their lack of support in the conflict, reiterating his view of NATO as ineffective in aiding U.S. military endeavors.
