Top court approves 15-month jail term of elder brother of ex-president Lee
SEOUL, The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a lower court's ruling that sentenced an elder brother of former President Lee Myung-bak to 15 months in prison for bribery.
Lee Sang-deuk, 83, was indicted on charges that he pressed top steelmaker POSCO to sign a business contract with a company run by his election aide and acquaintance in 2009 and 2010.
He was previously accused of involvement in the appointment of the chief of POSCO and the resolution of one of the company's key problems height limitation on the company's factory buildings.
Lee served as a lawmaker from 1988 to 2012.
He has been standing trial without detention because of his advanced age. But he faces imprisonment with the top court's decision.
