Covid-hit Thailand failed to win an automatic berth for the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup after losing 3-0 to Taiwan in India on Friday. It was Thailand’s second defeat in as many games in a three-team play-off following their elimination from the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. The Chaba Kaew were beaten 2-0 by Vietnam in the first play-off match. The Thais will now enter a 10-team inter-confederation tournament, which offers three spots at the 2023 World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand.
