Seoul: Taihan Cable and Solution Co., South Korea's second-largest cable company, announced it has secured a significant order valued at 45 billion won (approximately US$30 million) to supply a high-voltage cable system in Australia.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Taihan Cable has been awarded a turnkey contract by Transgrid, the operator of Australia's largest high-voltage electricity transmission network. The contract involves supplying a 330-kilovolt (kV) high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) cable system for an artificial intelligence data center (AIDC) currently under construction in Australia.
The turnkey contract mandates Taihan Cable to handle the entire scope of the project, encompassing engineering, manufacturing, installation, and testing. The company emphasized the importance of a stable electricity supply for the efficient operation of AIDCs, noting that such facilities necessitate advanced technical expertise and a proven track record in similar projects.
A company official stated that Taihan Cable will continue to seek opportunities in the value-added power infrastructure market, underscoring its commitment to expanding its footprint in this sector. As of the end of March, the company reported a cable order backlog worth 3.82 trillion won.
