Seoul: Stray Kids has surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify with its 2020 hit "God's Menu," marking a first for a fourth-generation K-pop boy band, the group's agency, JYP Entertainment, said Thursday. The achievement highlights the group's growing influence in the global music scene, showcasing the increasing popularity of K-pop worldwide.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the lead single from Stray Kids' first full-length album was written and composed by 3Racha, the group's in-house production team made up of Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han. The song helped cement the eight-piece group's reputation, combining an addictive hook, distinctive lyrics, and experimental performance elements that fueled its global rise.
Last Thursday, the group performed at Le Gala des Pieces Jaunes (Yellow Coins Gala), a charity event held at Paris La Defense Arena, alongside high-profile artists, including G-Dragon, Christina Aguilera, and A$AP Rocky. This performance further solidified their status as a prominent act in the international music industry.
The group is set to appear at major festivals later this year, including New York's The Governors Ball Music Festival on June 6 and Rock in Rio in Brazil on Sept. 11, both as a headliner. These upcoming performances are expected to enhance their global reach and connect with a wider audience.
