Gwangju: A steel structure collapsed at a library construction site in the southwestern city of Gwangju on Thursday, resulting in the death of one worker and leaving three others trapped, according to authorities.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the collapse occurred at 1:58 p.m., leading to a swift response from firefighters. They managed to rescue a 47-year-old worker who was found in cardiac arrest. Despite being transported to a hospital, the worker was later pronounced dead.

Rescue operations are ongoing as authorities work to free the three trapped workers. The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation, and safety measures are being reviewed to prevent further incidents.
