Seoul: A special counsel team attempted Wednesday to execute a warrant to detain former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn on charges of inciting an insurrection following former President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed imposition of martial law, legal sources said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Hwang, who served under former President Park Geun-hye, is accused of making Facebook posts following the martial law imposition on December 3. These posts allegedly called for the eradication of pro-North Korea forces and those involved in alleged electoral fraud.

Investigators from special counsel Cho Eun-suk's team appeared at Hwang's home to execute the detention warrant after he ignored three summonses to appear for questioning. Cho's team is tasked with investigating various allegations related to Yoon's martial law attempt.
