South Korea’s Exports Surge 43.7 Percent in Early May

Seoul: South Korea's exports jumped 43.7 percent from a year earlier in the first 10 days of May, data showed Monday. Outbound shipments reached US$18.4 billion in the May 1-10 period, compared with $12.8 billion tallied in the same period last year, according to the data from the Korea Customs Service.

According to Yonhap News Agency, imports went up 14.9 percent on-year to $16.7 billion over the cited period. This increase in imports, alongside the significant rise in exports, resulted in a trade surplus of $1.7 billion, the latest data showed.

The substantial growth in exports and the overall trade performance reflect the dynamic nature of South Korea's economy during the specified period, showcasing a strong rebound in trade activities. The data highlights the country's successful navigation of international trade challenges, leading to a positive trade balance.
