Seoul: South Korea's exports recorded a 4.3 percent increase in June compared to the previous year, driven by high global demand for semiconductors, as reported by government data on Tuesday. This growth marks a positive shift following an on-year decline in the previous month.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy compiled data indicating that outbound shipments reached US$59.8 billion in June. The country's imports also saw a rise of 3.3 percent year-on-year, totaling $50.72 billion, which contributed to a trade surplus of $9.08 billion.
Semiconductor exports experienced an 11.6 percent growth year-on-year, achieving a record high of $14.97 billion in June. This surge in semiconductor demand played a significant role in bolstering South Korea's export figures for the month.
