Komaki: The South Korean women's volleyball team began their Asian Games journey with a decisive 3-0 victory over Hong Kong. The match, held at Park Arena Komaki just north of Nagoya, Japan, saw South Korea winning in straight sets, 25-23, 25-12, 25-12, under the leadership of captain Kang So-hwi.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kang led the team with a match-high 14 points. South Korea is competing in Pool D, alongside Hong Kong, Qatar, and Vietnam, with the top two teams advancing to the quarterfinals. In a separate Pool D match at the same venue, Vietnam secured a swift 3-0 win over Qatar, further intensifying the competition.

In the match against Hong Kong, South Korea showcased their prowess with a 75-24 advantage in attacks, alongside a 5-1 lead in blocks and a 10-3 edge in service winners. The first set saw South Korea gain an early lead, extending it to 17-12 thanks to two consecutive aces by Lee Da-hyeon, and ultimately securing the set 25-23 through strong defensive play.

The second set was similarly dominated by South Korea, who surged ahead with an 18-8 lead due to a seven-point streak, maintaining their momentum to win the set 25-12. Despite conceding an early 4-2 lead in the third set, South Korea quickly regained control, courtesy of a block by Jung Ho-yeong, and concluded the match with another 25-12 set victory.
