Seoul:South Korea experienced a 4-1 loss to Uruguay in a men's football friendly match, marking the first defeat under interim head coach Robert Moreno. The match took place at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Darwin Nunes and Giorgian de Arrascaeta each scored for Uruguay, with Nunes finding the net in the 13th minute and de Arrascaeta scoring in the 27th minute. An own goal by South Korean defender Kim Min-jae further extended Uruguay's lead late in the first half. Nunes scored again in the 62nd minute, increasing Uruguay's advantage to 4-0.

South Korean captain Son Heung-min managed to score in the 80th minute, bringing the final score to 4-1. This goal was Son's 58th international goal, tying him with Cha Bum-kun for the most international goals by a South Korean male player.

In Moreno¾¢s debut match, South Korea defeated Ecuador 3-0. However, against Uruguay, they were unable to maintain the same level of play. Historically, South Korea has struggled against Uruguay, with one win, two draws, and eight losses.

The Taegeuk Warriors will host Venezuela next, with the match scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. in Ulsan. Despite efforts to control ball possession early on, South Korea's defensive vulnerabilities were exploited by Uruguay, leading to their defeat. South Korea made several changes in the second half, but Uruguay's dominance continued with Nunes scoring his second goal. Son's late goal came from a cross by Lee Kang-in, which the Korea Football Association acknowledged as Son's goal, despite his own uncertainty about deserving credit.
