Tokyo:South Korea's swimming team clinched a bronze medal in the mixed 4x100-meter medley relay at the Asian Games, held at Tokyo Aquatics Centre. The team set a new national record with a time of 3:44.12, finishing behind China and Japan.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean squad consisted of Kim Seung-won, Choi Dong-yeol, An Se-hyeon, and Kim Young-beom. This performance surpassed their previous national record of 3:46.78, achieved at the last Asian Games in 2023. Kim Young-beom, already a multiple medalist in Tokyo, anchored the team with a swift final split, almost catching Japan's Nagisa Ikemoto.

Kim Seung-won, only 16 years old, earned her third medal of the competition, adding to her earlier bronze in the women's 100m backstroke. An Se-hyeon, participating in her first Asian Games since 2018, celebrated her fourth career medal with the team.

In addition to the relay team, South Korea's morning heats featured Lee Eun-ji, Park Si-eun, Kim Ji-hun, and Hwang Sun-woo, who also received bronze medals for their efforts. Hwang has now accumulated five medals in Tokyo, including a silver in the men's 200m freestyle.

Choi Dong-yeol emphasized the teamwork across generations, noting the blend of youthful energy and veteran experience. The team is optimistic about their future competitive prospects on a global scale.

Kim Young-beom, displaying a sense of humor about his near-miss with Japan, expressed gratitude for the team's record-breaking performance. He looks forward to competing in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay, aiming for another medal.
