Nagoya:South Korea has advanced to the men's 4x100-meter relay final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after an initial disqualification was overturned.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the disqualification occurred during the heats at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Japan on Sunday. The team, comprising Kim Si-on, Joel Jin Nwamadi, Daniel Biwesa, and Lee Jae-seong, was initially disqualified for an alleged baton exchange rule violation between Kim and Nwamadi.

The South Korean team had ranked fourth in its heat and seventh overall among the 12 teams based on time. This positioned them within the top eight teams eligible to advance to the final, which is set for Monday.

The team's coaching staff promptly appealed the disqualification. The appeal, supported by video evidence, was accepted by the jury of appeal, as confirmed by the Asian Games Gameshub site.

Coach Ha Kyung-su explained that the jury initially believed the baton exchange between Kim and Nwamadi occurred outside the exchange zone. However, upon review, the disqualification was overturned, allowing the team to pursue a medal in the final event.

The team's prospects in the relay are bolstered by Nwamadi and Biwesa, who achieved fourth and fifth places, respectively, in the men's 100m race on Friday.
