Handa: A day after South Korea enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Qatar to kick off the men's football competition at the Asian Games, midfielder Lee Seung-won said Wednesday he had already put the match behind him.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee expressed that the initial victory was just the beginning, emphasizing that the team is not content with winning a single match. "Winning the first one is positive, but we are not here to win one match," Lee told reporters before a training session at Handa Sports Park in Handa, some 30 kilometers south of the main host city of Nagoya.

Lee, who played a pivotal role in the victory by connecting with attackers and supporting the defense alongside captain Lee Gi-hyuk, highlighted the importance of focusing on upcoming matches. "We were done celebrating that match last night. We all understand we have to concentrate on upcoming matches," Lee added.

During the match, Lee set up a crucial goal for Eom Ji-sung by creating a passing lane inside the box, which contributed significantly to the team's success. "I sort of wanted to take a shot right there, but Ji-sung was in such a great spot. So I felt passing it to him was the right move," Lee shared, humorously adding that Ji-sung owes him a coffee for the assist.

Despite the team's array of talented attackers from European leagues, Lee's efforts may prove essential in maintaining stability both on and off the field. The 23-year-old midfielder embraces the pressure of pursuing South Korea's fourth consecutive Asiad gold medal.

"We were all aware of skepticism surrounding this team before the competition, but when you represent the country, you have to deal with that kind of pressure," Lee acknowledged. "We just have to prove ourselves on the pitch, one match at a time. We will concentrate on doing our job and not let anything affect us."
