Milan: Snowboarder Yu Seung-eun finished in 12th place in the women's slopestyle at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, falling short in her bid for her second medal here. According to Yonhap News Agency, Yu completed the competition at Livigno Snow Park in Livigno, located 140 kilometers north of Milan, with a final score of 34.18 points. Among the 12 finalists, she secured the last position. Competitors were given three runs, with their highest score determining the final standing. Yu's scores were 20.70 points in her first run, 34.18 points in her second run, and 15.46 points in her third run. The slopestyle final was originally set for Tuesday but experienced a delay due to heavy snowfall in the area, leading to a one-day postponement. Yu, 18, had previously won a bronze medal in the women's big air event on February 9, aiming to become the first South Korean snowboarder to earn multiple Olympic medals. In the slopestyle event, snowboarders execute a series of tricks while descending a course filled wit h obstacles such as rails and jumps. They are judged based on originality, amplitude, and the quality of their maneuvers. The judges provide "section" scores for technical tricks and "composition" scores for the overall flow of the performance.
