SK Innovation to Supply Energy Solutions to Singapore’s Bridge Data Centres

Seoul: SK Innovation Co. announced Thursday its plans to supply energy solutions to a prominent data center firm in Singapore. This initiative is seen by the South Korean energy company as a strategic move to expand its footprint in the global energy solutions market.

According to Yonhap News Agency, SK Innovation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bridge Data Centres (BDC) to implement its artificial intelligence (AI)-based management systems, auxiliary power supply systems, and liquid immersion cooling solutions at the Singapore-based data centers. SK Innovation conveyed these details through a press release.

The company aims to showcase the stability of its power systems, emphasizing their resilience during crises such as blackouts. Additionally, SK Innovation intends to highlight its cost-saving technologies, including immersion cooling, as part of this agreement. Executive Vice President Kim Moon-hwan of SK Innovation's energy solution division remarked, "This agreement with BDC marks a significant step in validating the technological excellence and economic feasibility of our AI-based data center energy solutions." He further mentioned plans to use this validation to pursue global commercialization.

SK Innovation also indicated its willingness to explore joint research and development (R and D) opportunities with international AI data center firms, contingent on market demand.
