Shinhan Bank Issues AU$400 Million in Kangaroo Bonds in Australia.

Sydney: Shinhan Bank announced on Wednesday that it successfully raised AU$400 million (US$260 million) through the issuance of bonds in Australia. The bonds, known as "Kangaroo" bonds, are designed for non-residents to raise funds within the Australian market. According to Yonhap News Agency, these five-year, floating-rate bonds were sold at a margin of 0.97 percentage points above the three-month Bank Bill Swap Rate. Kangaroo bonds provide an opportunity for international firms to access Australian capital while offering Australian investors an option to diversify their portfolios. Shinhan Bank, a major entity under the Shinhan Financial Group, has maintained a consistent presence in the Australian bond market since 2007. It remains the only South Korean financial institution to regularly offer Kangaroo bonds, underscoring its strategic focus on international financial markets.
