Seoul: South Korean shares extended their gains late Wednesday morning as technology and auto shares traded higher. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 48.34 points, or 1.12 percent, to 4,043.27 as of 11:20 a.m.
According to Yonhap News Agency, major tech shares traded higher, with Samsung Electronics rising 1.45 percent and LG Energy Solution adding 1.81 percent. HD Hyundai Electric advanced 3.97 percent. Leading carmaker Hyundai Motor went up 0.19 percent, and its sister company Kia increased 1.2 percent. Hanwha Aerospace jumped 3.52 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,470.1 won against the greenback as of 11:20 a.m., down 1.7 won from the previous session's close.
