Seoul: Seoul shares opened lower Tuesday, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) opened 59.6 points, or 0.95 percent, lower at 6,240.06.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the U.S. stock market experienced a decline on Monday as oil prices rose, influenced by uncertainty surrounding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping. This development led to a slight downturn from the recent all-time high of the U.S. market. The SandP 500 slipped 0.1 percent from its record, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell by 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.
