Seoul: South Korean stocks rose for the second straight day Tuesday following a sharp gain the previous session ahead of the release of AI giant Nvidia's third-quarter earnings. The local currency rose for the fourth consecutive day against the U.S. dollar. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) climbed 2.88 points, or 0.12 percent, to close at 2,471.95. According to Yonhap News Agency, the main index soared 2.16 percent Monday, marking the largest gain since Sept. 26. Trade volume was moderate at 401.2 million shares worth 8.9 trillion won (US$6.4 billion), with gainers outpacing losers 458 to 409. Foreigners and individuals offloaded a net 331 billion won and 168.1 billion won, respectively, while institutions scooped up a net 457.7 billion won. Foreign investors remained net sellers for the eighth consecutive session. Overnight on Wall Street, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite increased 0.6 percent as investors awaited Nvidia's third-quarter results due later this week.
