Seoul: The Seoul International Book Fair, South Korea's largest literary event, opened its doors with participation from over 530 publishers, writers, and book-related organizations representing 17 countries. This year's event promises a robust exchange of ideas under the theme "A Pillar of Support," inviting attendees to discover personal sources of resilience amidst challenging times.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the fair has attracted significant public attention following author Han Kang's Nobel Prize in literature win last year, with all tickets sold out. Organizers expect around 150,000 visitors, featuring booths from approximately 100 international publishers and participation from about 430 Korean publishers.

Renowned director Park Chan-wook, known for his film "Decision to Leave," will engage in a talk session with literary critic Shin Hyung-chul. Other notable figures include "Cloud Bread" author Baek Hee-na and novelists Kim Ae-ran, Yoon Sung-hui, Sohn Won-pyung, Choi Jin-young, Jung Dae-gun, Jang Ryu-jin, Kim Ki-tae, and Kim Ho-yeon, who are set to interact with audiences.

The "Book Talk" sessions will feature author Kim Ju-hea, recipient of the Tolstoy Literary Award; novelist Kim Geum-hee; and Park Jeong-min, an actor and CEO of the publishing house behind Kim Geum-hee's book. Additional participants include authors Kim Cho-yeop, Chung Bora, Cheon Seon-ran, and Han Yu-joo.

Former President Moon Jae-in is also scheduled to visit the fair, attending the "Best Book in Korea Awards Ceremony" on Wednesday at 5 p.m., where he will deliver a congratulatory address.
